What is Natural Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)?

Different from the refined and distilled kinds of vinegar usually found in supermarkets, NewLife™ Organic Natural Apple Cider Vinegar is naturally fermented from fresh, wholesome, organically grown Nelson apples in New Zealand. When mature, it contains a web-like substance, called ‘mother’, which becomes visible when the rich brownish liquid is held to the light. Only when fresh, organic apples are used to make the ACV, you can then benefit from its life-stimulating enzymes and minerals.

What is the nature of the Mother?
The Mother is the dark, cloudy substance in the ACV that formed from naturally occurring pectin and apple residues – it appears as molecules of protein connected in strand-like chains. Vinegars with the Mother contain enzymes and minerals that other vinegars may not contain due to over-processing, filtration and overheating. Mother of vinegar is believed to have antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is the most nutritious part of the ACV.
Why is NewLife ACV not pasteurized?
Pasteurization would eliminate the ‘mother of vinegar’ and also remove delicate nutrients and enzymes that may constitute a major portion of the food value of that consumable. Therefore, NewLife™ Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is neither pasteurized (heated) nor filtered to ensure the enzymes and nutrients from the apples carry-through to the cider vinegar.
Is it okay to eat or drink the Mother?
Yes. the Mother is the most nutritious part of the ACV and is very beneficial to digest. Often the ‘mother’ settles to the bottom of the bottle. We recommend shaking the bottle lightly to distribute the ‘mother’ before dispensing.
NewLife™ Organic Apple Cider Vinegar does not need to be refrigerated. But we recommend that you keep the product out of direct sunlight in a relatively cool location.
Is it okay to take ACV on its own?
It is recommended that you take the ACV diluted with water or juice, or it might cause you discomfort if you choose to ingest it directly.
It is mandated by the local health authority to indicate an ‘official’ shelf life on the products. In the case of our NewLife Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, it is three years after the bottling date (found on the bottle). However, experience has shown that the product is safe, usable and effective for many years after the expiration date if kept out of direct sunlight.
Some people claim that it is too acidic to drink ACV. But that is really a fallacy. Foods leave an acid or alkaline residue once they are completely burned to ash. This is a function of the type and amount of minerals present in the food. ACV, because of its calcium and potassium mineral content, is alkaline forming in our body once it is burned to ash even though the original liquid is an acid. And although the original liquid is an acid, its acidity is lower than that of commercial cola!
NewLife Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is safe to take during and after pregnancy. It helps to rid the body of toxins and may even help with any complications that may arise or have arisen with the pregnancy such as indigestion, constipation, vaginal yeast, and edema (water retention).
Who should not take ACV?
Those who have stomach ulcers and those who cannot tolerate sour fruits such as pineapples, lemon and etc.

It is not imperative to add honey to ACV. However, the mixture of ACV and Honey makes a very refreshing and inviting beverage, we call it Honegar.
