Cow’s Milk – Food or Poison?

Why Drink Milk?

Everywhere in the world, cow’s milk has become so ubiquitous that it doesn’t even need an introduction.

Whether poured on breakfast cereal or enjoyed alone in a glass, this beverage has become a staple in the world’s diet, enjoyed from the cradle to the grave.

Milk is best known for its ability to help strengthen bones. There’s good reason for this. Milk is an excellent source of calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin K, three nutrients essential for bone health. That’s why drinking milk is often recommended as a great strategy for preventing osteoporosis, the bonethinning disease that affects more than 28 million people in the U.S. alone, most of them women.

Milk is also known for its high protein content. Due to its contribution to growth, an adequate protein intake is essential to cater to the needs of growing children and bodybuilders. Apart from calcium and protein, milk is also a very good source of riboflavin, vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin D, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, folic acid, magnesium, zinc, and a whole host of other essential nutrients that work together to maintain good health.

Don’t Touch That Milk!

Wait! Before you create a permanent milk mustache, consider the actual contents of the milk you drink. Fifty years ago, an average cow produced 2,000 pounds of milk per year. Today, the top bovine producers give 50,000 pounds per year! How is this accomplished? Drugs, antibiotics, hormones, forced feeding plans, and specialized breeding, that’s how.

Hormones, Link to Cancer The latest high-tech onslaught on the poor cow is the recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). This genetically engineered drug is used to stimulate milk production.

Unfortunately, rBGH also increases the levels of Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1) in the cow’s milk.

Consumption of this milk results in elevated levels of IGF-1 in humans, and such increase of IGF-1 is known to stimulate growth of cancer cells. This excessive amount of hormones consumed through milk also causes premature maturity in children.

Pesticides, Heavy Metals, and Antibiotics Ordinary milk comes from cows that are raised in an extremely unhealthy environment and graze on land where chemical pesticides may have been used. Many are fed with unnatural cattle feed and are routinely injected with antibiotics (almost once every 2 weeks).

Pesticides and heavy metals consumed by the cows have an impact upon the human consumer because by nature, these poisons tend to remain in the cow s fat tissues. Consumed through its milk and meat, these chemicals may cause side effects and will eventually wind up being stored in human consumer’s fat cells.

With up to 52 powerful antibiotics found in most cow milk, these residues are suspected to have caused health problems in humans due to the mutation and increased resistance of bacteria. They weaken the immune system and wipe out the natural colony of flora in the intestinal tract, making humans, especially infants and children, more susceptible to infections.

Face the Fats

Ordinary cow milk contains almost 50 percent of calories from fat. Countless research has been done linking animal fat as a cause of death, especially in areas of circulatory and immune function disorders. A Columbia University cardiologist. Dr. Robert Levy, noted in a study on lipid profile that “If we can get everyone to lower his cholesterol by 10 to 15 percent by cutting down fat from the diet, heart attack deaths will decrease by 20 to 30 percent.” A diet rich in saturated fat not only causes obesity and heart disease, but also a host of degenerative diseases such as gallbladder disease, diabetes, kidney problems, cancer, etc.

Milk and Allergies

Most people (except Northern Europeans) do not have the enzyme lactase to digest the milk sugar lactose. This lactose intolerance affects up to 90 percent of the world’s population. Undigested milk sugar in the gastrointestinal tract often results in diarrhea, gas. stomach cramps, and other severe symptoms like eczema and asthma. Further, many also find it difficult to digest the milk protein, casein. So what is the good of all the nutrients that milk contains if it becomes a poison to the system when one cannot digest it?

In short, each sip of the normally produced commercial milk provides you with growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, fat. cholesterol, allergenic substances, and more!

NewLife’s Milky Solution

For years, NewLife has been advocating consumption of yogurt to overcome the problem of milk allergies. Yogurt is characterized by its live and active cultures that help to break down lactose, casein, and other components of milk. In other words, yogurt is predigested milk which contains all the goodness found in milk. Yogurt also contains friendly bacteria which benefit us by improving intestinal microbial balance. This, in turn, aids in preventing colitis, an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the colon, and possibly even preventing colon cancer. Furthermore, its lowered pH value also aids in the absorption of minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
