The Red Zone
How to stay out of it and survive the stress test of life
“The RED ZONE” is a term used to describe a certain stress level in which there is no time to slow down, no time to take a break and relax. During this time, you’re pushing yourself harder and harder while producing poorer results, more negative energy, and overall lesser output than what you’re capable of.
We’ve all been there, and we all know how frustrating that can be.
Everyone feels stressed at times – while working, studying, rushing for deadlines, dealing with “bad” drivers and traffic jams, doing tiring house chores, or looking after the kids. Some of us even get stressed when we’ve got absolutely nothing to do! You’re stressed whenever you feel under pressure, worried, tense, upset, sad. angry, or any combination of these uncomfortable feelings.
A high-stress level is bad. So bad that over the long term, it weakens your immune system and makes you more susceptible to colds and other illnesses. No matter where your stress comes from, you need to learn how to manage it in order to keep yourself healthy – physically and emotionally.
While you can’t totally avoid stress, there are ways to deal with it so you will not be overwhelmed.
Say ‘Yes’ to saying ‘No’!
You cannot do everything. Some of us tend to be too nice or we feel it would be impolite to say “No” to people’s requests. Whether it’s your personal or professional life, stress often comes from trying to do too many things at the same time. You must understand your limitations and work within them. Taking on more than you can handle is a surefire recipe for stress.
Eat right. Live right. Be well.
A balanced and healthy diet gives your body proper nourishment and energy to cope with stress. Be mindful of what you put on your plate or purchase at the supermarket. Drink plenty of water and stay away from caffeine, alcohol, and drugs – which add to your stress level. Exercise is one of the best ways to release stress and getting adequate sleep fuels your mind and body.
A weakened or tired body will increase your stress level and even cause you to think irrationally.
Get a grip on your life
Much stress arises from the feeling of being overwhelmed. Getting organized and aligning your priorities can help you break responsibilities down into manageable pieces and focus on things that really matter.
Sorry, you’re NOT God
Stop worrying about things that you can’t change or control, such as the weather, life’s random misfortunes, or another person’s behaviour. Don’t be a “control freak”. Rather than stressing out all the time, focus on something that you CAN control – such as your reaction to these problems.
Fight free radicals
Stress produces free radicals, which are harmful to the body and cause premature aging. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and CoQ10 are some of the most potent antioxidants which help to prevent free radical damage in the body. Coffee enemas are great for removing free radicals and toxins from the liver and bloodstream, leaving you with a sensation that both calms and energizes.
The joke is on you!
Go watch a comedy or learn to laugh at yourself! Laughter reduces levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, and dopamine. It also provides a physical and emotional release. Laughter increases the antibody-producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of our T-cells. All this means a stronger immune system and reduced physical effects of stress. What’s more? Laughter is free! So, instead of complaining about everything, try laughing! It will add more fun to each day.
Proper Supplementation
Adding supplements to your daily diet helps you cope better with stress. Energize your body daily with Vitamin B Complex – an important anti-stress supplement. A cup of Chamomile tea provides a calming effect while N.Zimes PA Plus beats stress-induced indigestion.
Rest and relax!
Give yourself a break. Listen to music or explore relaxation and breathing techniques. Take a long and deep breath whenever you feel stressed. Talk to a trusted friend or family member and share your feelings with them. Spending time with positive, energetic people can keep you motivated and enhance your life.
