If you have experienced any of these symptoms, there is a very good chance that you, too, may have a thyroid problem…
The thyroid gland can be viewed as a tiny but extremely powerful throttle mechanism – because the energy hormone it produces acts like a gas pedal for the rest of the body. The hormone circulates through the bloodstream and enters each cell. This entire mechanism described functions like a toggle switch to turn cellular machinery on or off. In doing this, it regulates cell temperature, cell function, and cell growth. The thyroid gland, therefore, controls every chemical reaction of every organ in the body. One can get along without a uterus, or a prostate gland, or without ovaries, testes, or even a kidney. One cannot survive without thyroid hormone.
What causes the thyroid to malfunction?
There is compelling evidence that today’s thyroid epidemic is multi-factored. Amongst the most common causes include food processing including sodium commonly found in food additives; radiation exposure, due to the fast depletion of the ozone layer; intestinal parasites; fluoridation & chlorination of municipal water supplies; and high stresses of daily life. Anxiety and depression are known to have deleterious effects on the thyroid balance. Of course if one is already suffering from an autoimmune disease such as rheumatic or cancer, then almost any serious physical or mental stress might trigger the primed immune system into mischievous action against the thyroid, one of it’s favorite body targets.
To make things worse, very often one may very well be having a thyroid problem despite normal test readings in TSR, T4 and other common thyroid markers.
KELP – THE AMAZING THYROID LINK
Kelp is a type of seaweed rich in trace elements. Besides iodine, kelp contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, copper, potassium, manganese, sulphur, and other trace minerals totaling twenty-two known minerals in all. The iodine in kelp is in the same form of amino acid as it occurs in the thyroid gland. Kelp therefore strengthens the thyroid gland and is suitable for both hyper and hypo thyroidism.
Kelp is also beneficial for regulating other bodily functions including brain tissue and nervous system support, and is useful for other conditions as varied as hair loss, obesity and ulcers. It protects against the effects of radiation and softens stools.
Nature’s Gift Kelp (organic) is derived from the finest Nova Scotia and Pacific Kelp. One tablet provides 0.15mg of iodine.
