Toothpaste is essential for maintaining oral hygiene. Aside from protecting your teeth and keeping your breath fresh, it helps prevent many oral diseases. This is why toothpaste, just like food, is a mainstay in all households’ grocery shopping lists. Fluoride (Sodium Fluoride) — Fluoride is probably the most controversial ingredient listed, and why so many safe, eco-friendly brands still make a fluoridated version, but it is one that should not be taken lightly. Fluoride is more poisonous than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic. It is a waste product of the fertilizer industry, a rat poison and is used as an insecticide for ants and cockroaches. Fluoride is harmful, toxic and cumulative in its effects in our body even when ingested in small amounts. Studies have shown that fluoride can pass through the placenta.

Surprisingly, fluoride has NEVER been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Additionally, a 1990 study stated that fluoride has been shown to NOT reduce cavities and scientists are now linking fluoride to dental deformity, arthritis, allergic reactions and about 10,000 unnecessary deaths each year from cancer.

Spearmint Oil is rich in  vitamin A  and  vitamin C , and has antiseptic, disinfectant, antispasmodic, cephalic, antifungal, anti-bacterial and stimulative properties. Due to its antiseptic and disinfectant properties, spearmint oil can be used to heal minor wounds. It can be effective in healing ulcers, including those of the stomach and intestine. One of the active compounds found in spearmint oil is menthol, which has shown antispasmodic properties. Therefore, it can provide relief in abdominal cramps, cough,  muscle cramps  and nervous convulsions.

Teatree Oil  is a well known and documented natural antiseptic oil. A strong antiseptic, diaphoretic, anti-fungal and expectorant oil and is used to treat stings, burns and skin and fungus infections. This oil is well known for benefiting boils, blisters, acne, warts, cold sores and athlete’s foot.

Peppermint Oil or its menthol ingredient, is utilized in the production of mouthwash and toothpaste to provide mint flavoring for fresh breath. Peppermint oil applied to the skin can lessen the intensity of rashes caused by irritation. Peppermint oil reduces the oil on the skin’s surface and is thought to aid in the treatment of skin blemishes such as acne.

Fennel Oil is an extremely sweet and aromatic oil. In fact, fennel seeds were chewed to obtain sweet-smelling breath in the past when artificial mints and breath fresheners were not available. This is also one reason why the essential oil made from fennel seeds has emerged as a significant ingredient in the manufacture of perfumes, soaps, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals in modern times.

Coconut Oil Extract has been used as an instant natural mouthwash, just mix water and a few drops of extra virgin coconut oil and water. Unlike other mouthwash available in the market, it does more than cleaning the mouth; it also cures mouth diseases such as canker sores and even makes gums healthier.

Licorice Root Extract has been utilized for medicinal purposes and consumption for thousands of years. The most common and well known use for licorice is to relieve upset stomachs however licorice root extract has been found to possess anti inflammatory properties.

Chlorophyll is used for bad breath and reducing colostomy odor. A colostomy is a surgical opening made in the  abdomen  that allows intestinal waste to be collected in a bag. Chlorophyll is also used for  constipation , “detoxification,” and wound healing.
